Warranty
These warranty terms apply to plantation shutter products bought directly from DIY Plantation Shutters, unless your product page, quote or order confirmation states a longer warranty period.
WARRANTY PERIODS
- 10 Years (Structural PVC): Applies to the structural integrity of all custom PVC shutter profiles (both SmartKit and EasyKit, DIY and Pre-Assembled ranges) against cracking, splitting, rotting, or structural warping.
- 5 Years (Factory Assembly): Applies to the mechanical integrity, moving parts, hinges, and assembly craftsmanship of factory pre-assembled or factory-assembled shutters only.
- 3 Years (Paint & Coating): Applies to the colorfastness of the painted finish on all PVC shutters against fading or peeling under normal use.
- 3 Years (DIY Kit Components): Applies to the moving parts, accessories, and un-assembled hardware components supplied in DIY flat-pack kits (excluding structural PVC profiles).
Why Our Warranty is Different (No Fine Print Gimmicks)
When choosing plantation shutters, we believe in 100% honesty. Many online stores advertise "20-year warranties" in big bold headlines, but hide restrictive loopholes in their fine print. Here is how we compare:
- No "1-Year" moving parts limitations: While competitors often limit their warranties on high-wear components like moving parts and hardware to just 1 year, we back our DIY kit parts for 3 years, and our factory-assembled shutter components for 5 years.
- No "Drooping Shutter" excuses: Many brands exclude shutters wider than 750mm from their warranty if they sag when opened. Our EasyKit aluminium-core PVC range features internal aluminium reinforcement to ensure your shutters stay straight and square—no manual lifting required.
- No hidden freight charges: If we make a manufacturing mistake, we fix it and we pay the shipping. We don’t charge you return postage to correct our own errors.
WHAT THIS WARRANTY COVERS
During the relevant warranty periods specified above, DIY Plantation Shutters covers manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship under normal use for the product type and installation location described at purchase. This includes structural defects, warping and discolouration where the issue has not been caused by installation, site conditions, incorrect or incomplete customer information, misuse, modification, damage after delivery, or normal wear and tear.
This warranty covers product defects. It does not cover a shutter that has been correctly manufactured to the measurements, product range, mount type, frame type, panel layout or other specifications submitted or confirmed by the customer, where the issue is caused by incorrect measurements, incomplete site information, unsuitable customer-selected options, installation method, or site changes after order confirmation.
Replacement parts and accessories are covered by the Australian Consumer Law and by any specific warranty stated on the relevant product page or order confirmation.
AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
This warranty is provided in addition to, and does not exclude, restrict or modify, any rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable law. Your consumer guarantee rights may continue after the warranty period where the law provides.

HOW TO MAKE A WARRANTY CLAIM
- Contact us at service@diyplantationshutters.com.au with your order number, delivery date, product range, affected opening or part, and a short description of the issue.
- Attach clear photos or video showing the issue, plus photos of the whole shutter or opening where relevant.
- Keep the affected goods and any relevant parts available for assessment. Please do not dispose of, alter or repair them before we have had a reasonable opportunity to inspect the issue.
WHAT WE WILL DO
We will assess the information provided and may ask for further photos, measurements, return of a part, or another reasonable inspection method. If the issue is covered by this warranty, we will provide a repair, replacement part, replacement product, refund, or another remedy required by law within a reasonable time.
For a major failure, or any other situation where the Australian Consumer Law gives you a choice of remedy, that choice will apply.
CLAIM EXPENSES
If a warranty claim is accepted, DIY Plantation Shutters will pay reasonable freight or return costs associated with the warranty remedy where required by law or approved by us in writing before the cost is incurred. Please contact us before returning goods or incurring return freight, contractor, removal, reinstallation or site-rectification costs so we can arrange the most practical process.
Removal, reinstallation, contractor and site-rectification costs are not covered by this warranty unless they are required to be covered under the Australian Consumer Law or approved by DIY Plantation Shutters in writing before they are incurred. If we ask you to pay an approved cost first, keep your receipt and send it to us for reimbursement.
If the product is assessed and the issue is not covered by this warranty or by law, we may decline the claim and may ask you to pay reasonable return freight or inspection costs, but only where permitted by law.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY
This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, incorrect cleaning or maintenance, incorrect installation, unauthorised repairs or modifications, damage after delivery, or use outside the product’s stated suitability or intended purpose.
This warranty also does not cover fit, sizing, clearance or installation issues caused by incorrect or incomplete customer measurements, photos, site information, product selections, order details or installation decisions, or by changes to the window, reveal, handles, tiles, architraves, alarms or surrounding site conditions after order confirmation.
These exclusions do not apply where doing so would exclude, restrict or modify rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
RELATED POLICIES
Order changes, cancellations, deposits, transit damage, delivery timing and broader measurement responsibilities are handled in our Return Policy, Delivery Policy and Policies. Those pages operate together with this Warranty page and your rights under Australian law.
